The Story of Kafener
Kafener wasn't born in a corporate office or a boardroom. It was born in the misty mornings of Chae Hom, a district in Lampang known for its breathtaking mountain pagodas and its deep-rooted coffee culture.
The Village of Ban Sob Fa
Every year, my wife and I return to her family home in Ban Sob Fa, a quiet village tucked away in the Chae Hom hills. Life here moves at the pace of the harvest.
Back in 2020, I was a dedicated coffee hobbyist traveling with a Flair Espresso Press but no grinder. I remember the local "coffee emergencies"—carrying my heavy manual press into cafes in Lampang city just to find a barista who could help me dial in the perfect grind for the local beans I had discovered.
The Northern Epiphany
It was during these visits—spending my mornings brewing for my wife, her parents, and our neighbors—that I realized something special was happening.
The coffee coming out of the roasteries in Northern Thailand has a soul I hadn't found elsewhere. Whether it was a high-altitude bean from Chiang Rai or a local roast from Lampang, it often carried a signature "molasses" sweetness—dark, syrupy, and rich—that perfectly captured the spirit of the region.
But I noticed a gap: unless you were physically standing in a shop like Esketit or Doi Mae Jok Coffee in Chae Hom, or Mate Contemporary in the city, these incredible flavors were hard to find—and even harder to subscribe to.
Bridging the Gap
I saw a disconnect between the world-class roasters hidden in the northern mountains and the coffee lovers across Thailand (and the world) who craved that authentic "mountain taste" but didn't know where to start.
Kafener was built to be that bridge. We don't just ship coffee; we share the journey. By using technology to simplify logistics and LINE to keep you connected to the roaster, we make sure that a bag of beans from a small northern village arrives at your door with its story intact.
Our Mission
Today, we are a family-run project with a simple goal: To make Northern Thai specialty coffee accessible to everyone. We started in a village kitchen in Ban Sob Fa, but our vision encompasses the entire northern coffee belt. Whether we are helping a master roaster in Chiang Mai reach a new customer or pulling a shot for family in our own village, the mission remains the same: Great coffee should never be out of reach.
Welcome to the family. Let's discover the best of the North, one cup at a time.
